I sew for a living and have gone through 2 (other brand) so called “better” light weight, computerized sewing machines in the last 3 years. I wanted a machine built like the old machines,one I could depend on to go the long haul. That’s why I ended up purchasing the Singer 4423 Heavy Duty Machine. It’s got metal guts and appears to be built to last. It has a thread cutter on the side (my old singer doesn’t and it drives me crazy), you can see the bobbin while working so you know when it’s getting low. I feel I got a great deal and I’m very, very pleased with this machine. I also like the look of the machine. It’s nothing fancy, but it’s sharp looking and I like the gray color rather than the typical white most machines have. I happen to love the color of red, so the red accents are a plus for me. I feel really good about this purchase. If you’re looking for a machine that doesn’t have plastic guts and has a lot of speed, power and lasting power, I don’t think you could get a better machine for this price, or anywhere near this price for that matter!
